Natural vegetation surrounding the cottage areas consists of native grasses, seasonal wild flowers and a heavy population of mesquite trees. Numerous evergreens have been planted for wildlife shelter.

The orchard contains pecan, apple, and other fruit trees as well as a budded apple tree taken from the original "Johnny Appleseed" tree. Cottage lodgers are welcome to enjoy the fruits of the orchard when in season.
